Roadshow Entertainment won the award for DVD captioning 2008

Not everyone would be aware but August was Hearing Awareness Week and 2008 Captioning Awards were hosted by the Deafness Forum of Australia.

Roadshow Entertainment won the award for DVD Captioning going up against The National Geographic Channel and Disney Home Entertainment. This award is sponsored by Media Access Australia, a government body who works with organisations and community groups to provide better access to those with hearing or sight impairment.

Roadshow is very proud of its 23 year involvement in working and supporting both captioning and audio description. Over the last two years Roadshow Entertainment have increased their efforts with audio description resulting in more than 40 titles being released with this form of access. This is huge recognition for the company and Roadshow like to thank everyone for supporting their initiatives to once again be the leader in our industry.

Roadshow Entertainment's content partners ABC TV walked away with 3 highly commended awards so its congratulations all round.

BBC Worldwide Looks To the Future with ABC Commercial and Roadshow DVD Deal

BBC Worldwide, ABC Commercial and Roadshow Entertainment have renewed their hugely successful DVD distribution agreement for a further four years.

Under the tri-partite arrangement, the 2Entertain catalogue of BBC DVD titles will continue to be marketed and distributed through ABC Commercial and Roadshow Entertainment.

BBC Worldwide Australia acts as the Australasian agent for 2Entertain Ltd, BBC Worldwide’s global joint-venture with Woolworths plc.

The agreement ensures that Australian audiences can continue to access the best of British entertainment, drama and factual titles via the depth and breadth of the 2Entertain / BBC catalogue.

Star-performing BBC brands on DVD in this market include Little Britain, Planet Earth, Top Gear, Doctor Who and David Attenborough’s natural history portfolio.

“We are very pleased to be able to continue our unique relationship with ABC Commercial and Roadshow Entertainment,” said David Vine, Managing Director of BBC Worldwide Australasia. “Strong local partnerships such as this underpin the global success of the BBC DVD brand.”

The Director of ABC Commercial, Lynley Marshall, said she was delighted that BBC Worldwide had chosen to entrust the BBC DVD catalogue again to the ABC and to Roadshow Entertainment. "The partnership has worked very well in the past and I'm certain will work even better in the future," she said.
